Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi visited the East and Central districts on Thursday to monitor the ongoing polio eradication campaign. He emphasized that “the key is in community involvement.” It’s important for all local officials to understand their roles as well, he stressed during his visit.

Deputy Commissioners are urged to ensure a complete campaign by covering all children, especially those missed previously due to social or religious reasons, with polio drops and encouraging vaccinations in the community at large through effective engagement strategies including local influencers (as identified). The UC Chairman’s decision comes after an increase of 175 cases nationwide this year.
As a leader who has worked hard for more than five years to combat polio, he said: “It is absolutely essential that all efforts are made to ensure the health and safety of our children by eradicating such diseases.” He added with emphasis on localized strategies as well; “We need every child vaccinated.”

“Achieving a complete campaign is absolutely essential for us to ensure our children’s health,” Naqvi stressed during his visit on Thursday when discussing the polio eradication and immunization programs with local officials, including Deputy Commissioners of East & Central districts in Karachi.

Naqvi has called for urgent actions in order to protect children from this potentially fatal disease by increasing community awareness and participation as well as encouraging local officials at every level of government, he said while addressing the Deputy Commissioners.
